Body Mass Index Calculator

Body Mass Index Calculator: "Clinically, a BMI of 56.7 or above falls within the extremely obese range, according to the U.S. Expert Panel on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults. At this range, your BMI puts you at extremely high risk for developing diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and respiratory problems, and certain types of cancer (endometrial, breast, prostate, and colon).

You're certainly not alone: among people aged 20-74 in the United States, almost 20% of men and 25% of women have a BMI of 30 or above. But you do need to take action now to lose weight, to decrease your risk of developing disease. If you already have a condition like high blood pressure or diabetes, it's very likely you can improve it by losing weight. Studies show that you can improve your health risk significantly by losing as little as 10 to 20 pounds. Or you can work on maintaining your weight and avoiding weight gain, as an initial positive step. Check with your doctor for more specific recommendations that take your individual health history into account.

When you begin your weight-loss program, sure it's based on a healthy, well-rounded diet and regular physical exercise (as appropriate), instead of 'fad' diets or gimmicks. A qualified physician can inform you about additional options to help you lose weight, such as the safe use of medication, or, if you are interested, surgical procedures. Losing weight is one of the best investments you can make in your healthy future! See your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. "

Dieting

I went to Netto and my shopping bill was halved because I purchased no alcohol.
I feel a bit light headed now and then and I think my trouser waist band is  a little looser.

I put off going to the doctor to get weighed last wednesday  - the only place with big enough scales other than a hospital so I better make the effort tomorrow.

LOOK AND YOU WILL SEE. - is one of my favourite maxims because  if I can define my own problems I can begin to seek solutions.

bbc.co.uk Health - Ask the Doctor - Leg Cramp: "Intermittent claudication"
scary stuff from the BBC
Google Search: Intermittent claudication Dictionary.com/intermittent claudication sigh of relief - not that
Postgraduate Medicine: Patient Notes: Nocturnal leg cramps are an old friend and accured every hour last nightfor 3 hours or so until i finally fell asleep

Drinking a litre of wine at bedtime used to mean that I slept particularly well, butt now I have to diet, and alcohol makes me hungry and with anextra supper my calory input goes over the top. I am experimenting with adding potassium pills to my diet - the danish doctors insist on that if taking "water tablets" -diuretics.

Diet

I weighed in at 190 kilos last Wednesday
that is slightly less then my personal "best" at 194 kilo about 21 years
ago
and so I have got my old raw food rye bread diet out again
I used to lose 5 kilos a week or one kilo a day
1200 kilo calories or 5000 kilo joules
which should include at least 18% protein and no more than 30% fat

I spent two years with weekly weigh ins at the
ENÆRINGSFYSIOLOGISKLABORATORIUM
Kommunehospitalet
1399 København K
the institution is closed and the buildings are going to be used
by Copenhagen University after a refit.

Artists with MCS - Kuenstler mit MCS: "Suddenly in 1998 my health took a turn for the worse.
Due to nutritional deficiencies and a toxic lifestyle, I developed Fibromyalgia. While I was still able to paint for a year,

I soon developed MCS. It is very possible that the paints themselves caused all of this illness. How paradoxical that the very phenomenon that healed my soul made my body sick.
I distinctly remember making a painting in 1999 and suffering severe heart palpitations, tremors and quasi-hallucinations. That night I nearly had a myoclonus seizure from the fumes and realized at that moment that I had just completed the last oil painting of my life.

As the MCS spreading phenomenon took hold, I found myself reacting to more chemicals, materials and art supplies. I reacted to formaldehydes and preservatives in acrylics, the fumes of watercolors, liquid ink, pastels, chalk, "
